It is in a pet’s innate nature to
try and find a ‘release’ for
their pent up energy – generally resulting
in what an owner perceives to be destructive
behavior.
To the pet, they were simply keeping themselves
busy and occupied.
Unfortunately, destructive behavior is
the number one reason sited for animals
being turned into shelters.

According to a recent American Veterinary
College survey, nearly 40% of America’s
pets are overweight or obese.
Just as people are at risk of disease from
obesity, so are our pets. The most common
risks include:
• Arthritis
• Hypertension
• Diabetes
• Liver function
• Increased cancer rate

|
Of the top ten reasons pets are relinquished
to shelters, having no time for the pet
is #4.
Not spending quality time with their pets
or engaging them in meaningful activities
can cause anxiety for some owners, and,
more specifically their pets.
This lack of activity or engagement can
negatively affect the pet’s health.
